SCHEME OF EXAMINATIONS & PROMOTIONS
The success of educational innovation is in many ways dependent on the examination system that the school follows. The long term vision of KGRPS is to prepare students to think originally, to work creatively and to help them recognize their inner strengths as lifelong learners. KGRPS considers the choice of the examination board as critical for the development of its students. A system of continuous assessment is followed in all Grades. Pupils should therefore apply themselves regularly throughout the year and not work for control tests or examinations only.
The promotional system of the student to the next class is based on the total summative evaluation of the child during the entire session. The academic workload is divided into two semesters. Besides class tests, both Unit Tests and Terminal Examinations are conducted twice each in a year. Final examinations are conducted in the month of March. Absence on any day with or without medical certificate for Unit test/Exam will not be considered for ranking in the class.
In order to be promoted to the next class the student should obtain 35% marks in all the subjects. Promotion to every pupil is granted on the basis of his/her whole year's work, hence the importance of regularity in attendance is to be taken into account. While detentions are kept to a minimum, still students who do not qualify as per the Assessment System, are nor promoted to next class. The Principal’s decision regarding promotion or detention is final. The final examination is meant to confirm the result of the year's work and is not a promotion examination.
The system of conduction of re-examination for the absentees is not there in practice. In case of illness, the final result will be considered on the basis of the terms work and general performance during the year. No test will be pre-poned or postponed. A student who uses unfair means or receives and gives assistance in any form during the tests will be given zero in the subject and warning letter will be issued alongwith the intimation to the parents. If caught second time he/she will be rusticated from the school.
The students’ overall result is prepared on the basis of their overall performance of Unit Tests, Terminal Tests as well as in Final Examinations. It is compulsory for all students to appear in all the examinations failing which it is clearly mentioned in their personal report cards and the position in class shall be determined accordingly. This should be taken seriously and no excuses in any case shall be entertained at the later stage. Absence in any of the Unit Tests, Terminal Tests & Final Examinations will directly have effect on his/her position in the class.
Pupils are instructed to take every test home --- once tests are handed back. Parents are requested to sign next to the mark - this will ensure that they are always aware of their son's progress. Parents will receive report cards for each term of the academic year. In order to keep a regular contact of the progress of the students with the parents, the reports of the class tests as well as of the other examinations are sent to parents. Further the report and the activities of the students are also discussed with the parents in the meeting as well as on telephonic conversations with parents. Result once declared at the end of the year is final and will not be reconsidered, nor will answer papers be shown.
Pupil failing twice in the same class or during entire life in the school will have to discontinue his/her studies in the school.
Internal Assessment of each subject for non board classes shall be there of 5 - 10 marks in Unit Tests, Terminal Tests as well as in Final Examinations. It will include a viva examination of every student.
Parents should not make telephonic calls or ask for getting any leave during any of the Tests. On absence from any test, fine shall be imposed according to the rules of school.
It is compulsory for the Parents to come to school for the collection of report cards of the terminal examinations. No Report Card shall be handed over to student. Absence of any parent during the collection of report cards clearly depicts the negligence of parents towards their child’s performance. Hence parents are desired to collect the report card personally. It is compulsory for the Parents to come to school for the collection of report cards of the terminal examinations.
